Timeless Quote:
"Adults find pleasure in deceiving a child. They consider it necessary, but they also enjoy it. The children very quickly figure it out and then practice deception themselves." - Elias Canetti

The Child Lost
A baby in a cradle, thrust alone into the world

The storm clouds forming up above

The hands that used to hold me are all callous from the years

The lightning breaks these ties of love

-

My earliest of memories are of my nadir

Dreams were crushed before I dared to dream

I lived on, I lived alone, and I loved, but loved alone

The world gave nothing back to me

-

Now you say I'm going nowhere, but nowhere's where I've been

I don't plan on ever going back

I started at the bottom, clawed my way to where I am

It may be nowhere, but so was what I had

-

And where was your love, when I needed love so much

When the world crashed down upon me

Was I lost and alone, had your heart turned to stone

I was the child lost in the street

-

My wings were clipped before I ever got to fly

There's so many things I never got to see

Here I am, the child lost, alone in a world so cruel

Oh so cruel, why didn't you tell me

-

Now I know the world is pain, and the pain is mine alone

In and through these waves I'm tossed

So many things you never told me, things I needed to survive

A single word could have saved the child lost
